PSL police suggest public remove their guns from their cars

PSL Police suggest gun owners remove guns from cars while unattended after 4 guns were stolen out of 3 cars in Port St. Lucie.

On February 16, 2017, Port St. Lucie Police went to the 400 block of SW Undallo Road to investigate a two car burglaries.  During the investigation police learned that two cars parked in the driveway were burglarized and three guns were stolen.  Two guns, black colored FNH .40 caliber pistol with laser sight and a Glock handgun,  were stolen out of an 2016 Jeep.  A Smith and Wesson .380 handgun was stolen out of the second car, which is a 2015 Jeep.  Both cars were left unlocked.

A short time later police were called to the 400 block of SW South Quick Circle for another car burglary where a gun was also stolen.  During this investigation police learned that the 1992 Mitsubishi Eclipse parked in the driveway was burglarized.  The suspects stole a 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol out of the glove box of this car.  This car was also left unlocked.

During a canvass of the neighborhood police located a home security surveillance video.  The video showed that at 12:49 am a suspect car pulls up in front of a house down the street from the burglary in the 400 block of SW South Quick Circle.  The car stops in the street.  A short time later a subject wearing light colored clothing is seen running up to the stopped car, getting in the passenger side then the car flees the area.

Police are suggesting that gun owners remove their guns out of their cars and secure them inside their home.  They also suggest locking cars when left unattended.
