PSL Police arrest two  juveniles from Centennial High for possession of a firearm while on School Property

Port St Lucie, Fl (treasurecoast.com )- On November 15, 2019, Port St Lucie Police Detectives arrested and charged two students from Centennial High School; a nineteen-year-old for possession of firearm on school property and a Seventeen-year-old for unlawful possession of a firearm.

On November 14, 2019 at around 5:00 pm, Port St. Lucie Police went to the SE Sunnybrook Terrace for reports of a student allegedly in possession of a (small black colored) handgun while riding the school bus home, after dismissal.

Port St. Lucie Detectives teamed up with St Lucie County School Security in an attempt to identify the individual allegedly in possession of the handgun. At around 9:45 pm, detectives identified the nineteen -year-old male as a student of Centennial High School. Detectives went to the suspect’s home and contact was made with the student’s parents. Detectives searched the home and no guns or weapons were found, however photos on the juvenile’s phone revealed the juvenile on school property displaying the handgun.

Further investigation revealed the handgun was at another student’s home (Seventeen-year-old male Centennial High School Student). Detectives located the home of the other student and after a search of the juvenile’s room; additional firearms were located to include the handgun that had been brandished on the school bus. The firearms were removed from the home and are in police custody/ evidence. No injuries were reported. No direct threats were made and there will be extra security personnel on campus throughout the day. Both juveniles have been arrested on the above charges. The nineteen -year-old suspect was transported to the St. Lucie County Jail and the Seventeen-year-old suspect was transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
