Port St. Lucie Police arrest homeless man with gun after responding to an unwelcome guest call.

On November 19, 2016,  Port St. Lucie Police arrested Shanito Howard for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, after responding to an unwelcome guest call.

On November 19, 2016 at around 5:20 am, Port St. Lucie went to the 200 block of SW Ridgecrest Drive for reports of a man with a gun on the patio of the complaint’s house.  The complainant told police that Howard continues to come over to his house uninvited.  The complainant said that when he asks Howard to leave, Howard displays a gun and tells the complainant to make him leave.  When the complainant again saw Howard on his back patio, he left the residence and called police.

After police did not locate Howard at the complainant’s house, police deployed a K-9 unit and conducted a track.  During the K-9 track, police located Howard sleeping on the canal bank in the 300 block of SW Ridgecrest Drive.  After making contact with Howard police located a .380 caliber handgun in Howards pocket.

Howard was arrested and taken to the St. Lucie County Jail for booking.
