PSL Mayor hosting educational solar forum

Port St. Lucie Mayor Greg J. Oravec will be hosting an educational forum on solar energy with the non-profit Solar and Energy Loan Fund (SELF) and esaSolar Energy on Monday at 1 pm in the City Council Chambers located at 121 SW Port St. Lucie Blvd. The public is invited to attend and participate in the educational forum to learn more about solar energy technologies, local clean energy financing programs, and the Sun$avers bulk-rate solar program.

The Sun$avers solar energy program provides property owners with access to drastically reduced wholesale solar PV prices as well as multiple local financing options. The program is the first of its kind to offer bulk-rate solar PV pricing, coupled with three locally developed clean energy-financing programs – all of which provide 100% upfront financing to homeowners, businesses, and farms in St. Lucie County.

Through the Sun$avers program, local property owners can now buy or finance solar PV panels at about 30% lower costs than the current average price in Florida. The wholesale prices also mean that local property owners can now produce their own energy from the sun at a lower cost than buying carbon-based fuel from the grid. The Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC) has also approved all of the solar products offered through the program, including an America made panel manufactured in Riviera Beach, FL.

Port St. Lucie Mayor Greg J. Oravec said, “I strongly endorse solar in the Sunshine State, and I also encourage citizens to consider the Sun$avers program because of the potential cost savings.” He said, “The City of Port St. Lucie welcomes clean energy projects and jobs.”

Doug Coward, Executive Director of SELF, emphasized, “The Sun$avers program will only be available in St. Lucie County through February 16, 2018.” He added, “These wholesale prices are the lowest prices ever offered in St. Lucie County and enable local property owners to significantly reduce their energy bills.”

esaSolar Energy is one of the largest solar developers in Florida, and SELF has established the most robust suite of local clean energy financing programs in the nation, including St. Lucie County’s Property-Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program. Morgan Brawner, Director of Sales, esaSolar, said, “We’re excited to bring this new model of an all-in-one solar aggregation program to St. Lucie County, which allows property owners to attend a community information session, receive a free estimate, and see a transparent view of how much solar energy will actually cost for their homes or businesses. With affordable financing options and a simple signup process, property owners can select financing options that work for their budget and eliminate their electricity bill.”
