PSL Man threatens martial arts instructor with a gun.

On August 13, 2017, Port St. Lucie Police arrested George Meyer (DOB 9/17/55, 6800 block of NW Brookhaven Ave, Port St. Lucie) for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, carrying concealed firearm, exhibition of firearm on school property, and improper exhibition of a firearm.

On Sunday, August 13, 2017 at 3:30 pm, Port St. Lucie Police went to Grace Christian Academy for reports of a disturbance involving a gun.  Police met with the complainant who is a teacher and after school programs instructor. Along with other witnesses who said that a parent pulled a gun causing a disturbance at the School’s open house.

During the investigation police learned that the teacher was talking to parents about the after school martial arts program.  During the discussion the teacher mentioned that a gun was not always the best choice for self-defense as it can easily be taken away.  Meyer overheard the discussion and interjected himself by pulling a gun from his pocket, pointing it at the teacher, and said “Bang, your dead”.  After an exchange of words between the teacher and Meyer, Meyer put the gun away and left the area.

Police located Meyer in the driveway of his home.  Meyer told police that he was at the school discussing with the teacher whether or not the teacher could disarm him of his firearm.  He said he stood a distance away from the teacher and pulled out his gun.  Meyer claimed that he did not point the gun at anyone and covered it with both of his hands as he held the gun.

Police  seized the handgun (Beretta .32 caliber) and arrested Meyer.  Meyer was taken to the St. Lucie County Jail for booking.
