PSL Man Arrested for Aiming AR-15-Mounted Laser at Martin Sheriff Helicopter

Port St. Lucie, Fl- (treasurecoast.com)- On January 18, 2020, at around 9:50 pm, Port St. Lucie Police arrested  fifty five-year-old, Norman Marc Flaxman of Port St. Lucie. They charged him with”misuse of  laser lighting devices.” ( Any person who knowingly and willfully shines, points, or focuses the beam of a laser lighting device on an individual operating a motor vehicle, vessel, or aircraft commits a felony of the third degree.)

Flaxman pointed an AR-15 with a mounted laser at MCSO Helicopter while MCSO was assisting PSLPD on an unrelated case (while on a perimeter). The air unit immediately notified PSL Officers on the ground that a laser was pointed at the helicopter about three times. MCSO provided PSLPD with Flaxman’s exact location. When contact was made with Flaxman he expressed he knew better than to point a laser at the helicopter. Flaxman was apprehended and transported to St. Lucie County Jail on the above charge.
