PSL cat burglar suspect sets bag on fire, spits on officers

Port St Lucie, FLa- A cat burglar is in the dog house after burglarizing a car and then spitting on the officers that arrested him.

On January 27, 2018 at around 2:12 am PSLPD went to the 400 block of SE Seahouse Dr for reports that a suspect was found inside the victim’s car. The uncle of the victim tried to trap the suspect inside the car by closing the door. The suspect was able to push the door open and flee the area. The victim said that while the suspect was inside the car he set a plastic bag on fire. The bag was found burning on the front passenger seat and an envelope, which was found burning in the back seat of the car. The victim also told police that the suspect stole loose change from a glass jar and a package of light bulbs.

Police were not initially able to locate the suspect. Later they located a suspicious person matching the description of the suspect in the area of the car burglary.

Police contacted the homeowner where the suspicious person was found. They were told that the suspect tried to enter the patio of the house.

The suspect was identified as 35 year old Michael Ricoca. Ricoca was arrested and searched. Officers found loose change and light bulbs in his possession.

After Ricoca’s arrest he spit on two officers who arrested him. Ricoca was charged with burglary, arson, battery on an officer and taken to the St. Lucie County Jail for booking.
