Prayer Vigil for pilot who crashed at air show held

Stuart, Fl- A prayer vigil was held Saturday night for the pilot who  crashed Friday afternoon. Friends, family members and even strangers all came together outside the show’s main entrance for a prayer and moment of reflection.

The pilot who lost his life was identified as Dr. Joseph Masessa from South Florida. He was piloting a Grumman OV-1 Mohawk plane when he crashed. That type of plane was designed for battlefield surveillance and could be armed for light strike capabilities, and was in production from 1959 until 1970.  Dr. Masessa had more than 1,600 names of prisoners of war and those missing in action from the Vietnam war written on the side of the plane.
