Power Leaves Fall Into the Oxbow’s J.O.E. Program Jan. 13
PORT ST. LUCIE – Most people never give ordinary leaves a second thought, but they are the powerhouses of all our favorite trees. Take another look at the fascinating world of leaves at the Junior Oxbow Explorer (J.O.E.) program at the Oxbow Eco-Center on Saturday, Jan. 13 from 10 a.m. to noon. And if you’re serious about the fascinating world of the nature, bring a friend and start a trend by becoming part of the J.O.E. Club at the Oxbow Eco-Center.
Leaves are high-tech nature at its finest. These mini-solar panels gather energy from the sun and put it to work for plants and trees to grow and thrive. So give leaves the respect they deserve by joining us on a scavenger hunt where we’ll learn about different leaf strategies and take the ‘how strong is your leaf’ challenge. Afterward, we’ll set up our leaf science lab to get a closer look at what makes a leaf so powerful, and finish up with a fun leafy craft so you can take some of that power home with you.
The J.O.E. Club includes a series of adventures where junior explorers learn about habitats, wildlife and the environment through hiking expeditions, hands-on activities, games and more. To become a member, it only takes signing up for at least 3 adventures each year and filling out the appropriate page in your J.O.E. Journal (provided). Membership benefits include:
- An official J.O.E Membership Card
- 10% Discount in the Gift Store
- 10% Discount on Summer Camps
- Access to exclusive J.O.E Club events
The Junior Oxbow Explorer program is designed to engage children ages 8-12 in fun learning activities. Cost is $5 per participant per program and reservations are required.
