Potential Tropical Cyclone 9 has strengthened into Tropical Storm Isaias
Miami, Fl (treasurecoast.com)-The disturbance formerly known as Potential Tropical Cyclone 9 has strengthened into Tropical Storm Isaias bringing flooding to Puerto Rico and other islands.
As of the Thursday 5 a.m. Advisory, Isaias has winds of 60 mph and is moving very quickly to the northwest at 21 mph. It is bringing gusty winds and heavy rainfall to Puerto Rico.
The storm will continue moving northwest and towards Hispaniola, where it will encounter the rugged terrain. The mountains could potentially weaken the storm a bit, but there is the possibility a new center could develop just north of the island, allowing Isaias to maintain strength.
In terms of impact to south Florida, it appears most of the impact will happen on Saturday. Things could change, but because the storm is moving so quickly, impacts will be short-lived.
