Port St Lucie Police Officers Rescue Golden Retriever from the C24 Canal

Port St Lucie, FL (treasurecoast.com) -Yesterday  morning, Port St Lucie Police Officers rescued a Golden Retriever, “Max”, from the C24 Canal. PSLPD responded to the 300 Blk of SW South Quick Circle in reference to a dog struggling to stay afloat in the C24 Canal. Max was being taken for a walk, when he decided he had other plans. Max was able to maneuver out of his collar and he decided to go for a swim.

After trying to coax Max out of the water with anything and everything, Max’s owner, noticed he was “getting tired and going under”. PSLPD arrived and tried themselves to get Max to shore, but their efforts were fruitless.

Officer Cruz made the decision he was going in to save Max, so he began taking off his gear. Officers made one last attempt to coax Max to shore and this time it worked! Officer Ojeda was greeted with a wet kiss and a hug from Max.
