Port St Lucie Police arrest woman after toddler found wandering  in hotel

Port St Lucie, Fl  (treasurecoast.com) -On Sunday, August 22nd, 2021, at approximately 5:00am Port St Lucie Police responded to 2000 NW Courtyard Circle (Springhill Suites) in reference to a toddler walking the hallways.

Responding Officers learned that the front desk received an anonymous call stating they heard a baby crying in the hallways.  Staff responded to the second floor and found a young 2-year-old child in the hallway pulling on a blanket that was stuck in one of the doors

Unable to make contact with anyone in the room, staff contacted Police.  After several attempts of knocking at the door, Officers opened the cracked door, and located two other juveniles (11 years old and younger) that were sleeping without parental supervision.  The oldest stated their mom was at her boyfriend’s room and hasn’t been back since midnight.

Not knowing what room, the boyfriend had, staff located his room which was on the third floor.  Contact was made with the defendant, Whitnye Bates and her boyfriend.  Bates advised she last checked on her children at 4:30am.  There were no cameras on the second or third floor.

Whitnye Bates was arrested for child neglect and transported to Jail.
