Port St. Lucie Police arrest man for killing his sister’s  dog

Port St. Lucie, Fl- On May 25, 2018, Port St. Lucie Police arrested 22 year old Don Ulwazi Spencer on the charge of animal cruelty causing death.

The investigation began on May 25, 2018 at around 9:00 pm, when Port St. Lucie Police were called to the 5300 block of NW Aloha Street for a welfare check on Don Spencer.  Once on scene police were initially unable to locate Spencer.  Further investigation revealed blood on the floor in the garage of the home.  Alert officers noticed that the ceiling in the garage was falling down, which had not been there previously.

Officers opened and entered the attic of the home and located Spencer hiding in the attic under a box.  Officers were able to coax Spencer out of the attic where they continued their investigation.  Police learned that Spencer had killed his sister’s dog by stabbing it to death with a pair of scissors.  Officers located the deceased animal in a black plastic bag that was placed in a garbage can.

In further speaking with Spencer, police learned that he had also planned on burning the house down.  Police located several incendiary looking devices in a bedroom.  The St. Lucie County Fire Department was called to the house along with the St. Lucie County Bomb squad to remove the devices.

Police arrested Spencer for animal cruelty and transported him to the St. Lucie County Jail for booking.
