Port St. Lucie parents arrested for child neglect after police find family living in deplorable conditions.
On September 7, 2016, Port St. Lucie Police arrested Khai Q Tran (DOB 8/18/73, 3000 block of SW Kolsted Street, Port St. Lucie) and Kim Thi Nguyen (DOB 10/6/75, 3000 block of SW Kolsted Street, Port St. Lucie) for child neglect after police found the couple and 17 year old son and 9 year old daughter living in a filthy house.
On September 7, 2016 at 2:20 pm, Port St. Lucie Police along with the Department of Children and Families Services went to the 3000 block of SW Kolsted Street to check on the welfare of the children living in the home. While at the home police found the house in deplorable living conditions. Officers noted that the residence had no running water and the house smelled of feces and rotten food. The house was cluttered with items such as spoiled food, soiled clothing and garbage.
During the investigation it was learned that the 9 year old girl living in the house had not yet been enrolled in school and that the house is not fit for living.
Police arrested Tran and Nguyen on child neglect charges and transported the couple to the St. Lucie County Jail for booking. DCF removed the children from the home and has since relocated them. Animal control responded to the residence and removed three dogs from the home.
The dog were taken to the shelter in Port St Lucie.
