On March 12, 2016 at 7:29 am, Port St. Lucie Police went to the 100 block of SW Port St. Lucie Boulevard to investigate a traffic crash involving two cars.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 gray Chevrolet Cobalt, driven by Roy Gentilquore (DOB 11/17/58, 1781 SW Cochran Street, Port St. Lucie), was traveling east on SW Port St. Lucie Boulevard and SW Kail Street.  Gentilquore was traveling at excessive speeds causing the front end of his car to crash into the rear of a 2015 silver Toyota Corolla, driven by Deshayna Shakes (DOB 2/7/94, 1709 SW Umbria Street, Port St. Lucie), who was also traveling east on SW Port St. Lucie Boulevard.  After the impact, Gentilquore’s car veered to the right leaving the roadway causing the car to go airborne.  Gentilquore’s car landed on the driver side of the car then continued to roll until it came to a final rest near the parking lot of Flower’s By Susan, located at 130 SW Port St. Lucie Boulevard.

St. Lucie County Fire/Rescue responded to the scene and transported Gentilquore to St. Lucie Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 8:31 am.  Shakes was also taken to the hospital and was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Port St. Lucie Police Traffic Homicide Investigators are continuing the investigation into this fatal crash.
