Port St Lucie is getting a professional soccer team.

The South Florida Surf Soccer Club will be joining the Premiere Development League, a national league with over 80 teams.

The 14-game season starts May 7th, and the Surf will be playing all of their home games at South County Regional Stadium in Port St Lucie.

The players will all have amateur status, but the league has been a development system for Major League Soccer, with nearly 70 percent of MLS players coming from the PDL.

The 2016 schedule for the South Florida Surf Soccer Club will be announced later today.
