Closures

  • PBC Public Schools are closed Thursday and Friday.
  • Palm Beach County government offices closing at 3 pm Thursday through Sunday.
  • All county-operated Parks & Recreation facilities will close on Friday.
  • Please visit www.pbcgov.com for the latest advisories and to review your checklists and emergency plans.  At this time, you and your family should be in the process of completing protective actions and deciding the safest location to be during the storm.

What Actions Should You Take at This Time?

  • Determine if your home is in a storm surge evacuation zone by going to readyPBC.com or download our free app “PBC DART.”
  • If you are voluntarily evacuating from the barrier islands or any other locations, we strongly recommend that you begin doing so at this time.
  • Please evacuate if ordered.  Remember, evacuate miles, not hundreds of miles.  Please go to a friends, family member, or co-worker’s home here in Palm Beach County, a hotel, or when opened on Friday morning, one of our 15 county shelters.
  • If you do not reside in an evacuation zone, please shelter in place.
  • Put up shutters if you have them, no later than Friday evening.
  • Have a working weather radio and battery backup to receive important warnings.
  • Go through your disaster supply kit and review your family and/or business plan.
  • Remember to also have a plan for pets.
  • Make sure you have an adequate supply of your prescription medications.
  • Please gather and protect important documents such as insurance policies, etc.
