Palm Beach County veterinarian believed to be on downed plane

Palm Beach County, Fl— The Coast Guard along with Palm Beach Sheriff Office responded to a downed aircraft Friday approximately 23 miles east of Palm Beach on Friday.

According to the FAA, a Piper PA 32 aircraft crashed into the water off of Palm Beach, with two people and two dogs. The plane took off from Lantana airport.

Coast Guard Seventh District watchstanders were notified by the Federal Aviation Administration of a possible downed Piper Saratoga aircraft with two people aboard. The Coast Guard issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast. Then they launched an MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Miami, the Coast Guard Cutter Paul Clark (WPC-1106) and a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium from Coast Guard Station Lake Worth Inlet to assist.

The plane’s tail number is N3016L.

The plane is believed to have gone down at about 1 p.m.

Dr Ken Simmons who is believed to be on board,  owned and ran Simmons Animal Hospital in Green Acres for many years.

MIAMI — The Coast Guard continues to search Saturday for a downed Piper Saratoga aircraft with two people aboard 23 miles east of Palm Beach.

The Coast Guard Cutter Paul Clark (WPC-1106) and Coast Guard Cutter James (WMSL-754) crews will continue to search during the day. Air Station Miami authorized the launch of a HC-144 to conduct aerial search and rescue efforts.
