Palm Beach County 4-H Co-hosts Science & Technology Institute

Palm Beach County Cooperative Extension Service, in partnership with Broward and Miami-Dade counties, will host the 2015 4-H Science and Technology Institute on August 10, 11 and 12.  The program is designed for teachers, afterschool educators, parks and recreation staff, home school providers, and other youth development professionals and volunteers who are interested in engaging youth in science and technology.

                Help youth reach their full potential in science. Experience a wealth of inquiry based, hands-on science lessons and activities while gaining confidence and enhancing your science teaching abilities. Participate in a variety of science experiments and technology demonstrations designed to ensure that you will learn by doing alongside experienced University of Florida/IFAS Extension faculty.

The program will explore the following subjects:

August 10 – environmental science: water, science/conservation, marine science, biodiversity, insects, weather

August 11 – engineering and technology: Lego robotics, underwater robotics (SeaPerch), rocketry, archery, forces in motion

August 12 – agricultural sciences: chickens, embryology, livestock, vegetable gardening, nutrition

The program will be held at UF/IFAS Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center, 3250 College Ave., Davie, FL 33314.
