Oxbow’s Summer Camps Combine Technology, Skill and Art with Adventures in Nature

 

PORT ST. LUCIE – The Oxbow Eco-Center’s Summer Camp lineup includes eco-art, LEGO robotics, archery and outdoor nature explorations, beginning June 6. Camps are led by experienced instructors and incorporate hands-on activities, games and outdoor learning into each day. Registration is open at www.oxboweco.com. Discover Archery: June 6 – 10 for ages 10 – 16      

Ready, Aim, Release! Build strength, endurance and mental focus all while having fun. This introductory archery course teaches fundamental skills of archery for beginners. Enhance your new skills while playing games and learn how archery contributes to conservation. Discover and practice wilderness survival skills too.

Archery 2.0: June 13 – 17 for ages 10 – 16    

Ready to take it to the next level? Bring it on with Advanced Archery. Refine your skills and experiment with new archery activities and games. This camp is for those that have attended an archery introductory course, summer camp or have equivalent experience. Enhance your wilderness survival skills in the Oxbow preserve.

Extreme Eco-cycle: June 20 – 24 for ages 10 – 16      

One person’s recyclables is another person’s art supplies. Stretch your inner artist by learning to create amazing eco sculptures out of recycled materials. While exploring the outdoors and learning about our collective impact on the planet, we’ll work to create art in an eco-friendly way. A giant collective art piece will showcase newfound skills and educate Oxbow visitors.

STEMtastic: June 27 – July 1 for ages 6 – 9     

Put on your thinking cap: Campers will become engineers to solve problems using STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math). Work in teams to complete hands-on missions using coding and robotics. Test your structural and building skills and work to save our watersheds. Outdoor activities get campers moving and exploring the Oxbow preserve.

eARTh Explorers: July 13- 17 for ages 10 – 16          

Break out your pencils and paint brushes, look through an artistic lens and explore Florida’s natural ecosystems through art. Field biologists use art skills to observe and document their surroundings. Learn field journaling techniques and art skills from professionals and be a part of documenting Florida’s natural history.

Wild Child: July 25- 29 for ages 6 – 9     

Let’s get wild. This fun outdoor camp will foster the desire to be outside. Learn wilderness survival skills and gain confidence in your ability to navigate through Florida’s natural landscape. Think you’ve got what it takes to be survive in the wilderness?

All camps take place Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fees are $200 per week. All camps take place at Oxbow Eco-Center and various field trip locations in St. Lucie County. The Oxbow Eco-Center is a St. Lucie County Environmental Learning Center situated on 225 acres along the St. Lucie River at 5400 NE St. James Drive in Port St. Lucie.
