Okeechobee Centennial Birthday Bash

Join the City of Okeechobee in celebrating 100 years of incorporation at the Centennial Birthday Bash being held at the Sacred Heart Facilities and Field located at 901 SW 6th St. The birthday party will be June 13 from 3 – 8 PM rain or shine. The Subcommittee members for this fun family friendly event are Sharie Turgeon, Angie Griffin, Maurisa Tremain and Kaylee Davis. The Committee is working feverishly to make this birthday party memorable and enjoyable to kids of all ages. Music, attractions, games, Scavenger Hunt award presentation and activities will make up this exciting event. The Birthday Bash needs participants for the Mz. Centennial pageant which is a talent show featuring male participants dressed in women’s clothing and must show off their talent for prizes and a cake decorating contest where each cake that is entered will be the prize for the cake walk. The Birthday Bash committee is asking for community participation where any organization, group or business can set up a children’s activity and be a part of the festivities. The Centennial partners the GFWC movie in the park on May 9 was a success. There was an estimated 30 first time visitors to the event. You don’t want to miss the next movie in the park which will be the evening of the Birthday Bash, June 13. The movie will be the new “Annie” and will be a great way to wind down after the Birthday Bash as the movie will not begin till dark.

The Historic Bus Tour scheduled for June 20 is just about sold out. The next two tours are scheduled for September and October, with that will come the beginning of our season, so get your tickets for the fall dates today! Tickets are available at City Hall and at the Chamber of Commerce 55 S. Parrott Ave.

At each Centennial event the Centennial Tumblers will be available for sale for only $15 as well as the brick pavers. Brick pavers are available for $50 and $100 depending upon size.
