New Year’s Eve Shoplifter stopped at Walmart

On New Years Eve Richard  Crose attempted to shoplift at Walmart. He had  19 fishing lures, a tackle box, and 4 packages of fishing weights.

While Walmart Loss Prevention took notice to Crose concealing the items. When approached, Crose took flight running through the parking lot area.

Crose’s luck didn’t get any better when off-duty Captain Steve Graff was in the parking lot getting ready to do some shopping of his own. When Captain Graff witnessed the suspect running away from Loss Prevention, he identified himself as a police officer and took flight after Crose. Captain Graff caught up to him and physically detained him as the suspect continued to be combative.

Martin County Sheriff’s Deputies and Stuart Officers arrived on scene. Mr. Crose was arrested and charged with retail theft and resisting arrest with violence.
