Multiple Stab Wounds Lead To Vero Beach Arrest

Vero Beach, Fl- On 07/9/18 the Vero Beach Police Department Detectives responded to the Indian River Medical Center in reference to an incident involving two males that were admitted into the emergency room with multiple stab wounds.

Thee detectives discovered that at approximately 2:00pm two male suspects (one wearing a mask) entered a residence in the 1800 block of 31st Ave in Vero Beach. When the suspects entered the residence they attempted to steal items from inside but encountered a female victim. The female was approached by the males and held by one of the suspects. Then, detectives discovered the female victim. She was threatened with a knife as well as an object believed to be a firearm.

One of the victim’s saw the suspect and the female and told the suspects to take whatever you want. The second victim in the residence exited his room and saw what was going on and attempted to help his roommates flee by attacking the suspects.

Both victims then began to fight the suspects and attempted to get them out of the residence. During the attack both victims were stabbed numerous times. Both male victims were taken to the Indian River Medical Center by the female victim. One of the victims was taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center for treatment due to the severity of the puncture wounds. While the other was treated by Indian River Medical Center.

The suspects fled the area prior to law enforcement arriving on scene. Two of the victims told detectives that they recognized one of the suspects from the incident as a male named Jorge. Detectives were able to identify the suspect as:

Jorge Lazaro Casales DOB: 03/06/1999. Both suspects were charged with Home- invasion Robbery, Aggravated Battery, and False Imprisonment. Casales is held at the Indian River County Jail on a $225,000 bond.

The second suspect was also identified as juvenile Christian Barthelemy. Barthelemy was arrested and transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice for holding.
