Multiple arrests of local retail thieves in Martin County

Martin County, Fl (treasurecoast.com)- The Martin County Sheriff is reporting multiple arrests for stealing from our local stores.

This is what they said:

REPEAT RETAIL THEFT SUSPECTS LEARN THAT RETAILERS AND CUSTOMERS ARE HAVING ENOUGH AS THEY MOVE QUICKLY TO GET LAW ENFORCEMENT INVOLVED
Local retail stores and paying customers are giving criminals yet another reason to bypass Martin County stores, as three more repeat theft suspects were arrested.

Within two days, and involving two separate cases, employees, loss prevention professionals and paying customers contacted law enforcement as they witnessed thefts occurring. In one case, a loss prevention officer recognized a repeat non-paying customer and called MCSO.

20-year old Stenavia Duval and 32-year old Taquanna Vickers, both of Ft. Pierce were the first to get arrested after a customer saw the pair stealing merchandise from a Jensen Beach sporting goods store. A deputy responded and immediately located the duo walking towards their vehicle. Duval, who also had an outstanding warrant for retail theft was taken into custody, Vickers, who had previously been arrested for retail theft was issued a notice to appear.

32-year old Brittany Whittaker of Ft. Pierce was also arrested after stealing more than $1800.00 in merchandise from a Jensen Beach clothing store. Whittaker also had an outstanding warrant for grand theft stemming from crimes that occurred at other Jensen Beach retail stores. Whittaker appeared to be equipped for the job. Deputies located an anti-theft device remover from her bag. Whittaker said she was selling the goods on a local marketplace website.

Unfortunately, the financial gain for these theft suspects is a loss for everyone else. It seems that local retailers are having enough and not turning a blind eye to the crimes. Instead they are calling MCSO in enough time for the five finger discounts to end and a bond to begin.
