MULTI-AGENCY MANHUNT FOR ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT ENDS WITH ARREST, 24-HOURS BEFORE SUSPECT WAS SCHEDULED TO HEAD TO PRISON FOR 20-YEARS

The search for an armed robbery suspect, who was already set to go to prison for 20-years on a gun charge, has ended in a heavily wooded area in Indiantown. 36-year old Sherman Lee Bryant was taken into custody just before noon today. Bryant was wanted in connection to an armed robbery in Okeechobee County that took place late last night. Deputies believe Bryant robbed the victim, then took off to Martin County, where he was thought to be hiding in a dense wooded area in Indiantown.

After hours of an intense overnight search that ran into the morning, Bryant was captured and taken into custody. No one was injured. He is being booked into the Martin County Jail on escape charges. He will then be turned over to the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office to face additional charges. Bryant was scheduled to appear in court today, where he already faced a prison sentence of 20-years on a separate gun charge.
