MSCO Nabs Michigan Sex Offender at Walmart!
Russell Howard Ewing was going to leave Michigan, buy a sailboat, and flee to Puerto Rico. First, he moved to Martin County where he bought a sailboat. He was living near the Manatee Pocket Marina. Ewing is a convicted sex offender. He failed to report to Michigan authorities that he was leaving. Which he’s require to do by law. He never told Martin County authorities he was here, which he’s also required to do.
It wasn’t long before Sergeant Matt Immordino and Detective Derek Brieske received information that the absconded sex offender may be in our area. They also received information that he may be planning to set sail to Puerto Rico. That trip has now been cancelled. Following up on that information, detectives tracked Ewing to a local Wal-Mart where he stopped to do some shopping. Russell Howard Ewing was taken into custody and charged with failing to register as a sexual offender. He has no bond.
