Months long investigation leads to the arrest of a Wisconsin man on fraudulent spending spree
Port St. Lucie, Fl (treasurecoast.com) –On September 4th, 2021, Levontre Scott was arrested on 11 felony charges stemming from a PSLPD investigation. It began on January 16, 2021, when an individual reported his gym locker at LA Fitness being broken into. The unknown individual took the victim’s car keys and then stole the victim’s wallet from his vehicle. The suspect later identified as Levontre Scott, used a stolen credit card at a local CVS & Walgreens to purchase gift cards totaling $410.87 and $413.93 respectively.
Scott wasn’t done. He traveled to Planet Fitness and committed the exact same crime. Through an extensive investigation requiring numerous subpoenas, Port St Lucie Police Detectives were able to obtain a phone number that Scott was possibly linked to.
Detectives contacted that individual who informed police, that Scott was her sister’s ex-boyfriend. We later received a screen shot of Scott’s Instagram page. Detectives searched Scott’s Instagram account for any identifying pictures. They found a picture of Levontre Scott holding a Wisconsin Department of Corrections ID with the caption “free me”. Detectives were able to search the inmate ID and confirm Scott’s identity. To make matters worse for Scott, he paid his cell phone bill with a gift card he fraudulently obtained
Scott now sits in jail with a $120,000 bond and a parole violation from Wisconsin. Detectives believe Scott could be linked to gym thefts across South Florida.
