Mets hold tryouts to sing National Anthem

The St. Lucie Mets are holding an open tryout to find the best local singers who are interested in singing the National Anthem prior to the start of New York Mets spring training games and St. Lucie Mets games. The tryouts are open to anyone, regardless of age and will be held at the stadium on Saturday, January 14th starting at 10 a.m.

Individuals will be selected based on the quality of their performance during tryouts. All interested participants are asked to call Cynthia Malaspino at 772-871-2100 to register.

In addition to the anthem tryouts, January 14th is also opening day to purchase individual tickets to spring training games. Tickets will be sold on a first come first serve basis. Ticket windows and phone lines open at 10 a.m. At that time tickets can also be purchased online at www.mets.com.

The 3rd Annual Youth Baseball Clinic will also be part of the opening day festivities. Kids age 7-13 are invited to participate in the clinic which will be held from noon-2 p.m. There is a $10 fee to participate with the proceeds going to the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County.
