MCSO:Scam alert
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office has received reports of fraudulent calls from callers who claim they are from FPL. The caller claims they are from FPL. They try to convince victims that their power bill payment did not go through or that their power will be shut off due to non-payment. They insist you pay over the phone via credit or green dot card. Otherwise, they say you will risk having the power immediately shut off. In the end, the victim is out a substantial amount of money.
Again, this is a fraud. If you receive any type of phone call requesting money over the phone at your home or business, hang up and call the company directly on a credible number not provided to you by the person who calls.
