MCSO TRAFFIC STOP FOILS HUMAN SMUGGLING DROP OFF IN OUR AREA
If you think human smuggling wasn’t happening in our area, this might shock you. If you were concerned it could be happening, those concerns have been validated. That’s following the arrest of 56-year old Brenda Boaz of New Mexico.
Over the weekend, an MCSO deputy conducted a traffic stop on Boaz’s vehicle after she made an illegal turn, than mysteriously turned off her headlights. Boaz had two other people inside the vehicle. When questioned, it was determined that Boaz was smuggling undocumented individuals into our area as well as other areas throughout the United States.

On this run, Boaz picked up an unknown number of people from the Mexico/New Mexico border, and spent the past few days dropping them off in various parts of the United States. The stop in Stuart was a planned drop off. Boaz was getting between $2500 and $3000 per person to smuggle them in the country.
One of the undocumented males said he had no ties here, but once he was dropped off, he planned to live on the streets until he could find a job. The female said she was here to connect with other family members who were already here.
When deputies searched the vehicle, they found methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, plastic baggies and marijuana that Boaz planned to sell. Also inside the vehicle, a ledger titled, “Trips Taken”.
The two undocumented individuals were turned over to Border Patrol. The ledger was turned over to Federal Authorities, and Brenda Boaz was taken to the Martin County Jail on charges of human smuggling, transporting drugs into the state, possessing or selling a controlled substance without a prescription, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
