Martin County, Fl (treasurecoast.com) -The Martin County Sheriff has reported that  “High Speed” is the likely cause of a late night crash at Dixie Highway and Savannah Road.

Four people were seriously injured in a crash that sent one of the vehicles engines about 50-yards from the crash scene.

This crash happened around midnight on Dixie Highway and Savannah Road. A Tesla and a second vehicle collided. The impact was so great that four people were ejected and found laying in the roadway when deputies arrived. Three people were taken by ambulance to the hospital, a fourth was flown to a trauma center. Injuries were serious, but did not appear to be life threatening.

A preliminary investigation points to excessive speeds as a primary cause of this crash. This is the third such horrific crash involving high speeds that have occurred on our roadways in weeks.
