Martin County: Vandalism leads to Animal Cruelty!

MCSO Detectives asking for Public’s assistance to identify those responsible.

Martin County Sheriff’s Agricultural Crimes Detectives are searching for the public’s help. First they vandalized a local business. Then they gouged the eyes out of a four foot alligator they found on the business property. The incident happened at Del Monte Foods located at 12002 SW Kanner Highway in Indiantown earlier this week.

The vandals kicked out a metal panel in a door, cut an electrical outlet, removed the fire extinguisher from the outside barn and sprayed foam on a large piece of farm equipment. They also turned the outdoor water faucets on causing flooding near the entry way and wrote graffiti on outside portable toilets. The destruction didn’t end there. The suspect(s) then tortured a four foot alligator they found on the grounds, by gouging its eyes out with a blunt object. The wicked act blinded the gator. The reptile also had cut marks on its back.

Martin County Detectives contacted FWC about the incident. A private trapper was called and the gator was captured. It had to be euthanized as a result of its injuries.

Please call Detective John Barca, with the Martin County Sheriff’s Agricultural Crimes Unit if you have any information about this crime. You can also private message them on Facebook.
