Martin County Shooting Spree suspect captured

MAN SUSPECTED IN DANGEROUS SHOOTING SPREE WHICH CAUSED THOUSANDS IN DAMAGE AT MULTIPLE GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AND PRIVATE BUSINESSES  CAPTURED.

MCSO’s Criminal Investigations Division, Aviation Unit, and Midnight Shift Uniform Road Patrol Deputies worked this  case for several weeks.  Then, Nathan Fiorella of Stuart was arrested.  A team of detectives and the MCSO SWAT Team took him down around 2:30am. He was about to set out to begin another dangerous shooting spree.

Fiorella was driving the same black Escalade that was used in the other shootings.

The most recent incident took place at :

  • the state attorneys office
  • the elections office,
  • an attorneys office
  • a high school
  • several private businesses.

The Investigation

Throughout the investigation, Martin County Sheriff’s Sergeant John Bowdoin and Detective Mike Cashwell developed suspect leads, which led them to Fiorella. Teams conducted surveillance on Fiorella’s home. Ultimately  they caught him on MCSO Air video shooting from his vehicle at a sign in Martin County.  They waited for him to strike again.  He did. This time the end result was different. The SWAT team emerged upon Fiorella’s vehicle and arrested him.

Detectives served a search warrant on Fiorella’s home. They found weapons and ammunition consistent with the caliber of high powered projectiles used in all of the shootings.

Subsequently, Nathan Fiorella was charged with shooting a deadly missile into a structure. He was taken to the Martin County Jail. His bond is  $200,000.
