Martin County Sheriff warns of thefts in gated communities

AUTO THIEVES ACCESSING GATED COMMUNITIES – TARGETING UNLOCKED VEHICLES, OR VEHICLES WITH KEYS LEFT IN CAR

Martin County, Fl- The Martin County Sheriff’s Office is warning all residents who live in gated communities to be vigilant following the theft of three vehicles from two different gated communities.

Thieves accessed the Hammock Creek and Danforth communities overnight. Two vehicles were stolen from Hammock Creek, a third vehicle was stolen from Danforth.

In one case, the victim believes the thieves were able to get the car keys by using the garage door to access the home. In all three instances, either car keys were left inside the vehicle, or the car doors were left unlocked.

Fort Lauderdale Police Department was instrumental in the apprehension of 6 suspects.

In addition, two auto burglaries were reported. Thieves smashed out a window on a car parked at Symphony of Stuart. Then another vehicle was burglarized at Kiplinger Park. In both cases, the windows were smashed out of the car. Valuables that were left inside the vehicle were stolen.

We would like to remind everyone to remove valuables from your vehicle when parking it anywhere, whether it’s in your driveway, a parking lot, or a park or beach.
