Martin County Sheriff warns of fake check cashing
Martin County, Fla- The Martin County Sheriff is warning the public of fake check cashing. They are asking local businesses to be alert to a possible fraudulent check cashing. This ring operating out of Dade and Broward counties may be working in our area.
The MCSO said that on Friday they arrested 37-year Adrian Granado Mena of Hialeah. Officials say Mena attempted to cash a fake business check at a Bank of America on US1. An alert employee noticed the identification as well as the check that Mena provided appeared to altered. Mena then tried to leave the bank but was greeted by deputies in the parking lot. He was subsequently arrested.
Businesses should alert their employees to the possibility of others attempting to commit a similar crime, and to stay alert.
