Martin County Sheriff has scary Hawk encounter

It was a bird…..no, they will never believe it. A plane? Doubtful. A drone? Weak.

Martin County Sheriff’s Corporal Andrew Porcelli wasn’t sure what bounced off the side of his head while doing security checks this afternoon. All he knew is that the impact nearly knocked him off his feet. Fortunately security footage captured the feisty feather fighter go in for the dive with a precision t-bone hit to the target. With no warning to dodge the incoming thump, Corporal Porcelli sustained a signature hawk scratch to the head. Not to worry though, he will be fine. As for the hawk, she was likely in nest protective mode.

So, it’s a good time to remind everyone to remain alert, so you too don’t have to wonder what the “hawk” just happened.” 

Hawks try to avoid humans, but they will not hesitate to attack if you broach their territory. They can be especially aggressive if you get too close to their nest during nesting season, as they are highly protective of their eggs and young.
