Martin County ok’s medical marijuana dispensaries

Martin County, FL-The Martin County Commission has voted to allow medical marijuana dispensaries to open up in the county, but do so under certain restrictions. The county will require the dispensaries to follow the same location restrictions as pharmacies.

Commissioner Ed Fielding was the lone dissenting vote, stating that he worried about the county getting involved with a drug still illegal under federal regulations.

Local governments also are prohibited from regulating the cultivation, processing or dispensing of medical marijuana, according to the state.

Seventy-five doctors in Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Brevard counties are authorized by the state Office of Medical Marijuana to recommend medical marijuana to their patients.

Peter Zeblisky, DO from Martin Heath posted this information about Medical Marijuana.

“Patients in Florida diagnosed with one of the following “debilitating medical conditions,” are afforded legal protection under the Florida Medical Marijuana Legalization Initiative, as per Amendment 2: amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS/Lou Gehrig’s disease); cancer; Crohn’s disease; epilepsy; glaucoma; HIV/AIDS; seizures; chronic muscle spasms; multiple sclerosis; Parkinson’s disease; PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder; or any other ailment/condition of the same severity/symptoms when it is determined by a physician that the medical use of marijuana would outweigh any potential health risks.”
