A man wanted on drug charges led Martin County Sheriff’s detectives on a short chase.

It happened yesterday evening around 5:00 p.m. when detectives attempted to arrest Robert Breland on multiple felony and drug charges in front of Big Lots on US1 and Monterey Road.

As detectives approached Breland’s vehicle he intentionally rammed two occupied Sheriff’s Office vehicles and an unoccupied civilian vehicle. After hitting several parked vehicles, Breland subsequently crashed behind the Chase Bank and fled on foot.

A perimeter was set up, and a short time later Breland was apprehended behind a business east of US1.

In addition to his three outstanding drug charges Robert Breland now faces charges of Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, multiple counts of Aggravated Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, and Resisting with Violence.
