Live Green and Prosper at the Oxbow’s 14th Annual Earth Day Festival April 2
PORT ST. LUCIE – Spend a day in nature with your friends and neighbors at the Oxbow Eco-Center’s 14th Annual Earth Day Festival on Saturday, April 21 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
More than 60 exhibitors will be on site, each with a hands-on, minds-on activity to engage visitors of all ages in fun learning. Visit the Eco-Guardian Grove to meet some live animals and learn how conservation organizations and citizen scientists are making a difference. Stroll through the Enchanted Forest to get connected to nature with artistic activities. Or venture down the Eco-Harvest Trail to find out how you can get outdoors to explore the natural side of St. Lucie County. This free festival designed for all ages is sponsored by St. Lucie County, the City of Port St. Lucie, the City of Fort Pierce, and the Fort Pierce Jazz ‘n Blues Society.
Entertainment and Food
This year’s Earth Day Festival will feature music for everyone. You’ll want to stop and dance to the jazzy blues sound of our headline act, the Blues Crusaders. Kids will love laughing and singing along with Ms. Kate and her zany puppet friends. Bob Lusk will take us back in time as he shares some of Florida’s most treasured folk songs. If dancing to your own beat is more your speed, don’t miss the chance to join Kevin Beatkeeper for a fun interactive drum circle. Dance and music from the PACE Center for Girls, a dance workshop with the Hitchiti dancers, poetry readings and children’s puppet shows and plays will round out the day’s entertainment.
Five different food vendors will ensure that there is something to satisfy every palate, whether you’re looking for a quick snack, a hearty lunch or an early dinner before you head home. Satisfy your sweet tooth with a cool, refreshing Kona Ice or swing by our volunteer bake sale for a delicious homemade treat.
Take the Eco-Challenge
Don’t forget to test your nature acumen by taking the Eco-Challenge. Follow the Earth Flags through the festival grounds to find the Challenge questions and learn a new Earth-friendly fact. Get an Oxbow trading card with each question you answer correctly. Collect six of the nine trading cards and you get a chance to win a great prize.
Green Patrol
Get caught in the act of taking care of the earth and win a chance for one of our many exciting drawings. Our Green Patrol will be making the rounds looking for people with reusable water bottles, properly disposing of recyclables, picking up trash or making other green choices
