Julio Ruiz charged with vehicular homicide, DUI
Ft Pierce, Fla- Police charged the driver involved in a crash that killed a little boy on Christmas morning in Fort Pierce. Authorities say 29-year-old Julio Ruiz multiple faces, including vehicular homicide and DUI manslaughter. The crash killed 9-year-old Issac Santillan. Police said Ruiz crashed a black Toyota Corolla into a parked Ford F-250 after skidding into the wrong lane on Cortez Boulevard on Christmas morning. There were two adults and two children in the Corolla. Ruiz admitted to a traffic homicide investigator that he drank alcohol and took some pills the night of the crash. Police said he was going at least 77 mph in a 30 mph zone. It was also Issac’s birthday. Ruiz is already in jail on unrelated charges.
