Details:                 On Saturday, August 29, 2015, Saint Lucie County Commissioner Todd Mowery will open the inaugural Lawnwood Core Jam Skateboard Competition with an introductory speech regarding the importance of supporting local action sports events, the community’s “At Risk Youth” programs being promoted and planned from the competition, and the importance of supporting our local nonprofit organizations and small businesses. The goal of the Lawnwood Core Jam is to help brand IRS 501(c)3 organization, Future 6 Helping Hand Fund (DBA Future6/F6), on the Treasure Coast as an iconic organization that provides free action sports camps for children with special needs and at risk youth with such programs as surfing, skateboarding, bully prevention, wakeboard and wake skate, and even motorcross. Future 6 has been operating free surf camps since 2013 in Palm Beach County serving children with autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy,  and many other mental and/physical disabilities. Future 6 has also operated free wakeboard and skateboard camps in Orlando, Fl since 2012.

The competition itself has attracted a large outreach of large and small businesses in a vast array of industries all over Florida in support of Future 6 and the Lawnwood Core Jam. From international business, Ardent Support Technologies, which provides data center hardware support and maintenance services (www.ardentsupporttech.com) to Domain Premium Apparel, an Orlando based skateboard clothing company (www.domainpremiumapparel.com); the Lawnwood Core Jam sponsors and vendors share Future 6’s vision of providing positive mentorship programs and emotional outlets for the children they serve.

The Lawnwood Core Jam will have several competitive divisions including:

  • 0-7 years old
  • 8-12 years old
  • 14-17 years
  • Open Pro Am
  • Mens
  • Ladies
  • Cash 4 Trix Jam Session

Each division will provide trophies but the Sr. Mens, Open Pro Am, and Cash 4 Trix divisions will also have huge cash payouts, something that has never happened at SLC’s Lawnwood Skatepark. Future 6 and all their partners, sponsors and vendors are looking forward to some of Florida’s finest skate teams coming from all over to claim their piece of the prize purses.
