IRC Sheriff attempting to locate 16 yo black male person of interest in shooting
Indian River, Fla- The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to located black male Jessie Jones. He is 16 years of age.
Jones is a person of interest involving a shooting that occurred February 1, 2018, at approx 6 PM in the area of 13th PL SW.
If you know the whereabouts of Jones please contact Detective Lester. He can be reached through Public Safety Dispatch at 772-978-6240, in reference to case number 2018-20419. At 5:45pm @IRCSheriff responded to a residential burglary in progress in the 300 block of 14th Place SW. The homeowner reportedly was awoken to the sounds of his door being kicked in. He told deputies he retrieved a firearm and confronted the suspect. The homeowner reports (1/3)

(2/3) that the suspect brandished a firearm and they exchanged gunfire. The suspect was shot twice and collapsed in the street. Suspect transported to Lawnwood as a trauma alert. Homeowner is currently being interviewed by detectives. Suspect is expected to survive.
