Invest 92L brings wet weather.

Forecasters are tracking a few areas of disturbance this morning. Invest 92L is approaching the Bahamas. It has a 40% chance of tropical development over the next five days. Forecast models show this storm approaching our area, bringing some rain on Tuesday and Wednesday.  There is another area of disturbance further out to sea. It is not expected to develop over the next five days.

What is an invest?

An invest in meteorology (short for investigative area, alternatively written INVEST) is a designated area of disturbed weather that is being monitored for tropical cyclone development. Invests are designated by three separate forecast centers: the National Hurricane CenterCentral Pacific Hurricane Center and Joint Typhoon Warning Center.

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

1.There is a large area of disturbed weather over the northwestern Caribbean
Sea. It is associated with the remnants of Harvey.  A tropical depression is
likely to form over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday or
Thursday. 
* Formation chance through 48 hours...high...70 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...high...90 percent.

2. Shower and thunderstorm activity associated with a broad trough of
low pressure near the northwestern Bahamas remains limited.  Any
development of this system during the next few days should be slow
to occur while it moves west-northwestward, and then turns
northwestward or northward near Florida and the adjacent waters.
Environmental conditions could become a little more conducive for
development by the weekend when the system begins to move
northeastward over the western Atlantic.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...medium...40 percent.
