Internet Safer Day

 Internet Safer Day

The Port St Lucie Police Department is a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.  Internet Safer Day brings awareness to the danger’s children can encounter online.  With the Holiday Season a little more than a month ago, many juveniles may have received a smart phone or device as a gift.  We would like to bring awareness to the potential danger’s children can receive and help make the internet safer.

On May 20, 2020, Port St Lucie Detectives received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.  Port St Lucie Detectives began an extensive investigation and learned that a juvenile girl in Sweden sent an inappropriate video of herself to Daniel Golden (10/15/1997) at his request.  The child in Sweden believed that Golden was a 15-year-old female because he portrayed himself as one.  When Golden asked for an additional more explicit video, the victim refused, and Golden attempted to exploit the victim, threatening to send the original video to her subscribers.
