Last night, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office arrested Demarious Gordon (17), Jason Dillard (16), and Jordan Graham (16) for robbery with a weapon and theft. As a man walked home in the 400 block of 11th Court, Vero Beach, he was approached by Gordon, Dillard, and Graham. Dillard produced a handgun as they demanded all of the man’s belongings. The man told them he did not have any money but did give them his cellular telephone before Dillard hit the man in the head with a the handgun. The juveniles fled the area and the man called for help.
Deputies, K-9, and aviation support arrived quickly on scene. K-9 teams tracked the three juveniles to a back porch in the 300 block of 11th Avenue. The three juveniles were found hiding on the porch, trying to stay out of view of the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office helicopter. A black handgun was recovered at the scene along with the victim’s cellular telephone.
Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar stated, “Our responding patrol deputies, K-9 and aviation team did an outstanding job locating these violent juveniles in quick order. Detectives worked today to secure additional charges to keep them off the streets. Indian River County is safer today with these three juveniles behind bars.”
Gordon, Dillard, and Graham were charged with robbery with a weapon and theft and transported to the Department of Youth services in Fort Pierce where they faced first appearance hearings today. Both Graham and Gordon were already on probation for previous charges. Graham had three active warrants for violating his probation. Dillard was charged with aggravated battery and possession of a firearm by a minor. Gordon was also charged with possession of ammunition by a delinquent, as deputies located a bullet in his pocket. Additional charges of armed burglary of an occupied dwelling for all three are expected later today.
