Indian River Sheriff rescues elderly woman who had fallen

For The Love Of Paws  stepped in to help with woman’s dog!

Indian River, Fl (treasurecoast.com)- Two  Deputies forced their way into a home to rescue a woman who had fallen.
The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Vero Beach home to check the welfare of a woman. A home care nurse requested the check after being unsuccessful in contacting the patient for more than 24 hours.
The woman’s home was secured with storm shutters, making entry into the home a challenge. Deputies could hear the woman from a rear bedroom window saying she had fallen and was unable to move.
Corporal Eric Brashears and Deputy Tea DeLeon were able to get into the home and find the injured woman.
Indian River County Fire Rescue also responded and transported her to Cleveland Clinic in stable condition.
During the ordeal, the woman told Corporal Brashears that she didn’t want to lose her 11-year-old dog, Toby and that she had no family in the area to care for him.
Corporal Brashears reached out to Ted Pankiewicz, of For the Love For Paws, who immediately offered temporary care for Toby and help ease his transition.
Toby is spending his time on the sanctuary farm while his owner receives the medical care she needs.
Love For Paws currently assists the disabled, senior citizens, and veterans when they can no longer care for their beloved pets, most commonly when they go into hospice, memory care, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or other rehabilitation facilities and have no one to care for their pets. Love For Paws provides a sanctuary, new Fur Ever homes, and Fosters.
