Indian River K-9 Mako & his human partner track down domestic violence stabbing subject

Indian River, Fl (treasurecoast.com)- The Indian River Sheriff have reported that K-9 Mako & his human partner tracked down  a domestic violence stabbing subject. (Good dog Officer K-9 Mako and human partner K-9 Dep. Ricardo Ferrer!)

This is what they said:

K-9 Mako and his human partner K-9 Dep. Ricardo Ferrer helped bring to an end the search for a domestic violence stabbing suspect identified as 38-year-old Bobby Dean Martin.
Deputies responded to the 4200 block of 48th Avenue Monday night after a woman reported her boyfriend had tried to strangle her. It wasn’t until after deputies arrived and talked to her that she realized she had also been stabbed in the shoulder with an ink pen.
Deputies searched the area for Martin and, upon contact, he refused commands and a deputy deployed a taser, which had no effect.
Martin continued to flee. K-9 Mako tracked Martin and was able to lead deputies to the suspect.
Martin again failed to comply with commands and K-9 Mako brought the man to the ground.
Martin continued to struggle and tried to strangle K-9 Mako. Deputies were eventually able to subdue Martin and take him into custody, but only after Martin kicked and hit them multiple times.
He continued to fight at the hospital, where he was medically cleared for release to the jail; and he physically fought with the booking deputies at the jail.
Martin faces numerous charges, including felony battery – domestic violence by strangulation, aggravated battery, battery on police dog, three counts of battery on officer, and resist arrest with violence.
He is currently being held at the county jail without bond.
