St.Lucie, Fl (treasurecoast.com)-St Lucie  County is reporting an Increased  in disorientation of sea turtles on our coastline.

St. Lucie County officials have seen an increase in the disorientation of sea turtles on our coastline last month, most likely from residents on the beach with flashlights and bonfires. During sea turtle nesting season – help us keep sea turtles in the dark. Dim exterior lights. Knock down sand castles. Fill in holes dug in the sand. And remember: Fires on the beach are prohibited in St. Lucie County. If anyone observes sea turtle nest poaching or harassment of sea turtles on the beach, please call 911 or the Florida Fish and Wildlife hotline at 1-888-404-FWCC.
