Hurricane Ida maintains 150 mph winds as it nears Louisiana coast

Miami, Fl (treasurecoast.com) – Hurricane Ida is hours away from landfall and is expected to be a catastrophic category 4 storm.

Hurricane Ida as of 7 a.m. has gained strength as it moves over the southern Gulf of Mexico Saturday.

Ida is moving northwest at 15 mph and has maximum sustained winds at 150 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center.

A category 5 storm has winds of 157 mph.

On the current forecast track, all of Southeast Louisiana is in the cone with an expected landfall in south Louisiana sometime Sunday afternoon.

This storm is expected to bring life threatening storm surge to the coastal areas of Louisiana.
