Hundreds attend March For Our Lives in Martin County

Hundreds of thousands of people across the country took part in the March For Our Lives on Saturday, including an estimated 500 people in Stuart.

Congressman Mast addressed the crowd and the student organizers.

Mast stopped short of repeating his call for an assault weapons ban. His Democratic challengers spoke as well. Lauren Baer said this isn’t just about school safety.

Pam Keith is running against Baer in the Democratic primary. She noted the lack of action after previous mass shootings, but said this time is different.

Several students got up in front of the crowd as well. Nicole Daly is a junior at South Fork High School. She warned about the dangers of the Guardian Program, which arms certain school staff members and was approved by the state legislature after the Parkland shooting.

The main march was in Washington DC and down south in Parkland. There were marches across the country and around the world. This was most likely the largest organized march anywhere.
